This is what we know about this reject as of 1/26/2022 11 AM CST
Please read the whole list below:
We are also hearing a great deal of, “My taxpayer swears they
did not have marketplace insurance”. To answer that, the IRS does think so.
- Providers have until January 31st to mail
the 1095-A to taxpayers, so many have not received theirs yet.
- The 8962-070 reject is a legitimate reject.
- It is a new reject this year, to enable the returns to
be corrected and not kicked into errors, where they would have delayed
funding.
- This is the IRS’ top reject so far across the country,
across all software vendors.
- If the reject occurs, the IRS has information that the
taxpayer, spouse, or a dependent has Marketplace insurance, and/or
received an advance payment for marketplace insurance.
- Disputing this reject with the IRS will cause the
return to be processed by hand, which will result in delays.
- These returns should have the 8962 or a pdf attachment
with their ACA calculations.
- There is also a statement that can be used to dispute
the need for an 8962.
- The IRS has promised further details on the PDF
attachment and the statement, when we receive that I will forward it to
you.
